Program Note

The horn and piano are instruments I began learning at the same time in  my adolescence and today even still have an element of fascination for me. This piece displays the qualities of these instruments I hold dearest.

If a still life is a portrait of inanimate objects, a still dream must be a representation of a snapshot from a dream. That is what I was considering when composing STILL DREAM. I wanted to capture the murky uncertainty of recently recalled dreams and the terror one feels during and immediately after a nightmare.
